Black Sabbath founder and guitarist Tony Iommi has announced the release of his first solo album in 21 years. The album, From The Dark, will arrive October 23rd on BMG.
The album features a guest spot by Queen guitarist Brian May. Iommi wrote the album with Norwegian metal vocalist Jørn Lande, co-produced it with Mike Exeter, whom Iommi has worked with in the past.
Iommi released a statement about the album and recently spoke with Rolling Stone magazine about life without Ozzy Osbourne, his long-time bandmate in Black Sabbath. “It’s an album we’ve really enjoyed making,” Iommi said. “We’re not trying to prove anything.”
“It’s been really strange,” he said. “I still don’t feel like he’s gone because when I look on YouTube or whatever, there’s something to do with Ozzy, and I see him again and again. It’s almost like he’s still here. It’s really peculiar. Only, we were in touch so many times. That’s what I miss.”
