So people said David Lee Roth canceled multiple dates on his summer 2026 tour due to poor ticket sales. Maybe because people watch videos of him butchering beloved Van Halen songs and decided not to spend their hard-earned money on tickets.
But it turns out that the real reason Roth canceled a whole slew of dates just shortly after beginning his tour, is that his ol’ buddy Alex Van Halen invited Roth to come hang out with him at a TedX event in Fargo, North Dakota.
Alex had been announced as a speaker at the event just a few weeks ago. TedX speakers are limited to 18 minutes on stage in front of a live audience.
How many words do you think Alex will get in during those short 18 minutes, now that Roth will be joining him?
The TedX Fargo event takes place Wednesday, July 29th, and Thursday, July 30th, with Van Halen on the list for Thursday.
And actually, the appearance is billed as a “Virtual Talk” between Van Halen and artist Robert Vargas. So Alex (and presumably DLR) won’t even be in North Dakota for the event. So, if it’s all just a Zoom call, hopefully Vargas will be able to mute Roth to allow Alex to get in a word or two.
