Vinny Appice, legendary drummer of Dio and Black Sabbath, has announced a slew of tour dates with his Sabbath Knights roadshow. Appice recorded the first three seminal albums with Ronnie James Dio when they formed the band Dio together. Previous to that, Appice and Dio recorded and toured together in Black Sabbath, particularly during the Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules era. Later, Dio and Appice rejoined Black Sabbath founders Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler in a band they called Heaven & Hell, with more successful recordings and worldwide tours.
Appice created Sabbath Knights to bring the classic hits of both Dio and Black Sabbath to the masses — the only member of those classic metal bands to regularly perform the music today. Joining Appice in Sabbath Knights is lead vocalist Jim Crean, who had previously worked with Appice and his older brother, Carmine Appice, in the two drummers’ “Drum Wars” touring act. Crean hails from Buffalo, New York, and has wielded his powerhouse vocals with the Appice brothers for more than 15 years.
Guitar and bass duties in Sabbath Knights rotate depending on schedules, but usually include guitarists Felipe Rodrigo (of The Mercury Riots) or Artie Dillon (of Cactus) and bassist Paul (of Fear) or Jimmy Caputo (of Cactus).
