A couple years back Aerosmith Frontman Steven Tyler blew out his voice. Honestly, it’s a wonder he didn’t do that decades ago. But the Gods of Rock ‘n’ Roll clearly had been smiling on Tyler all along. Unfortunately, they fell under bedazzlement by Taylor Swift and took their eyes off Tyler, and his Golden pipes tore themselves to shreds. Shame on the Gods of Rock ‘n’ Roll. I mean, Taylor Swift is good looking and all, but they had Steven Tyler to protect.
Anyway, the legendary rock band with the legendary singer suddenly had to call it quits as far as going on the road was concerned. And ever since, we surmise, Mr. Tallarico has been drinking lots of tea with honey and lemon, and inhaling mass quantities of primo medicants — albeit a different type than he was fond of inhaling back in his youth — in an effort to regain the ability to regale us all with song.
So it must have worked — either the tea with honey and lemon or the medicinal grade such and such — because Aerosmith are getting Back in the Saddle at last and performing October 29 and November 1 at the Hollywood Bowl in, uh, Hollywood, California.
At first the show was promoted as Aerosmith and Friends, but the friends part was left to be guessed at by those who wonder about such things. Then it was announced that Guns ‘n’ Roses would be opening both shows. But wait, there’s more: The friends also include such luminaries as Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme, Sammy Hagar, The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, Jerry Cantrell, and so many more…
Here is the press release from Aerosmith:
